This product is amazing!
Our veterinarian recommended the GingerLead when I told her that I was holding up our 68lb doggie's back end whenever he went out.
I found the sizing a bit confusing, particularly because the size I thought we needed is listed as what appears to be multiple products. I called and left a message, and someone got right back to me with a helpful explanation that the M for males/females and L male are all the same product. I missed the cut-off by a few minutes, but the great team at GingerLead was able to ship it that night.
I cannot tell you how much this product has improved my life. It makes assisting our pup so much easier, and I no longer hurt my back walking in strange positions to help him. I love the sturdy construction and clear, easy to remember instructions for use. My dog loves that he has help without my losing balance and bumping into him.
If you or someone you know has a dog with mobility issues, do yourself a favor and purchase the GingerLead. =
We have a nine-year-old, mixed-breed cattle dog who was a rescue dog and who had had a congenital deficit in her rear hip joints that impacted the functioning of her rear legs and accordingly the effectiveness of her gait and her climbing abilities while at our miniature donkey ranch.
A couple of months ago her rear legs became notably weakened, to the extent that she could not ambulate to meet her eating, drinking and exercise needs. I did a Google search and found your GingerLead Product. We ordered one and it has helped take her from being relatively helpless and deteriorating to showing heartening increases in her assisted ambulation performances. It has been a positive change for Lucy, her human parents and even her miniature donkey friends who were wondering why they almost never saw her until very recently. Thanks for making your product available. Another thought - Lucy seems to be getting stronger during her assisted walking episodes.

I first tried a GingerLead when my personal dog had CCL surgery - it was a huge help getting our 70# baby up and down the 2 steps to the yard during her recuperation period, without her needing to put her full weight on the recovering leg.
I (and the other volunteers) now use GingerLeads for the local animal shelter's senior dog program - many of the seniors we transfer in have hindquarter weakness or arthritis, and need a bit of extra help now and then.
The GingerLead works very well for dogs that are able to stand up without a huge amount of support, and then need some level of support while walking. The only time we were not able to use the GingerLead to help a dog, the dog had large amounts of hindquarter pain and was unable to stand on his own at all. As long as a dog can even partially stand, the GingerLead is easy and effective to use, and helps the senior dogs we serve feel more confident and independent. We try to always keep one of every size available!
The Gingerlead that we bought from you has opened up a whole new world for our Border Collie,Tavish! He is a little over thirteen years old and suffers from arthritis and hip dysplasia. Recently, he experienced a recurrence of the Lyme Disease which he contracted two years ago. This added to his severe joint discomfort, making it impossible for him to go for his daily walks around the park with Blue, his Australian Shepherd brother. He would ride in the car with us to the park, and then just lie down and watch his brother run and play. I would stay with him to keep him company while my husband walked Blue who would keep running back and nuzzling Tavish as if he were asking him why he wasn't coming. It was truly heartbreaking! :-(
Then I remembered your ads for the Gingerlead that I'd seen on Facebook. We ordered one right away. Now Tavish is going on walks with his brother! His leg muscles have less atrophy, and he is enjoying his favorite part of the day once again.
My Collie recently underwent knee surgery for torn cruciate ligaments. I live in a split-level home, and there is no way out into the yard without stairs. I tried using a towel, but ended up carrying my Collie up and down the stairs instead. The towel was fruitless.
I looked online to find belly slings for dogs and came across the GingerLead. A LIFESAVER for me and my Collie.
The GingerLead is easy to adjust to size and easy to use. There are some nice YouTube to help you get started. The GingerLead is durably built, easy to put on and take off. I absolutely love it!
Because my Collie likes to lunge up and down the stairs, I did purchase him a harness to work with the GingerLead. Remember that the GingerLead works with a collar or a harness, but does not come with either. So if you need a harness, be sure to pick one up. I chose one that my Collie did not have to step into due to his knee surgery.
I highly recommend the GingerLead.
Our 90lb goldendoodle torn her cruciate ligament and had to have surgery. The recovery period is estimated to be 8 weeks during which time she needs help getting up and going up and down stairs. Well we had a sling from the hip surgery she had as a puppy (yep, she will never be able to get through TSA with all the metal in her now) and it was a pain to use and not comfortable for her but got us through the weekend. I ordered the Gingerlead over the weekend and it was here by the time I picked her up from the hospital on Wednesday! Wow the difference is amazing! Thanks to the Velcro it stays on and is comfortable for her and me! It doesn’t bunch and having the leash attached makes it easy to go on walks! It is so convenient to be able to leave it on while I put on my shoes or open the door. The adjustable straps let you get the perfect fit so that you can walk with the dog easily at your side. Our dog loves it and so do we! A 10 out of 10!!!
Wow, what a great back saver for me and what a comfort for my Bo boy. This product is as good as it gets. The function is superb, an ease to put on, and designed very well for dogs who need support in walking. My dog had hip surgery and when I lift his back end a certain height, he will use his leg but without the support, he won't use the leg and falls. He also has degenerative myelopathy so I know this will be a back saver for me. The sling they gave him from the hospital was cutting into his belly and using a towel is way too difficult to hold onto. So, I'm very thankful this ginger lead has been designed. We love it. Bo is 80 lb Chessy, tall and thin, the med large fits fine but we have it as tight as strap will go. I might order the tall size later so I can make the strap shorter and have an extra one that can go in the water for swims.
My 7 1/2 yr old pup recently underwent TTA surgery : ( Doing my homework, I learned that a belly band is a necessity during the first two weeks post-op as well as during rehabilitation (long recovery time). So, after a few searches and finding that the Gingerlead was always a top runner, I placed my order. The Gingerlead has this awesome attachment that connects the lead to the collar! Brilliant! Gives you much more control which is very much needed once your pup thinks he's feeling better. If your fur baby is due for a surgery or if you just need to help support his hind legs, I would strongly recommend the Gingerlead! After all, these folks created this based on their experience with their fur baby! Yep, we are not alone. Knee, hip & leg injuries are unfortunately quite common. Good luck to you & your fur baby!!!
I love my GingerLead! The foam pad is soft, comfortable, yet firm and there is NO bunching like my previous support sling. It feels so solid underneath my dog. The workmanship and materials are of high quality, and the handle is very adjustable, substantial, and comfortable to hold. The attached leash is genius, and truly ensures my dog does not walk forward out of the sling/support and allows me to control her speed going down steps. I had such a positive experience with the company and their employees. I received prompt and excellent guidance via email and phone, and when I had to return the first GL for a different size, it was painless, The next one came in two days as well, and my refund within two days. I highly recommend this product, and I'm so thrilled I found it.
The GingerLead is exactly as described and just the thing we needed to assist and support our senior lab! Our girl is 12 1/2 years old and can still walk slowly on carpet or flat, grassy areas without assistance; but getting up after napping, walking across our wooden deck, or trying to navigate across rooms with wood floors have all been a huge problem lately because of weakness in her hind legs--they often slide out to the side or "buckle under." Even in the grass, slight dips/inclines could make her lose balance. We are so very pleased with the GingerLead!! The medium unisex size is a perfect fit, and we love the padding and ease of using it. Other then letting her sniff it a little at first, our our lab took right to it with no hesitation! I highly recommend this product!
I recently purchased the Gingerlead for large male dogs. I have a 5 year old 114 lb Akita who somehow managed to tear his acl in his left knee in late May and then 3 weeks later his right knee. When he tore his right knee acl he was only 2 weeks post op from his left knee acl surgical repair and now required the right knee to be surgically repaired right away. Needless to say, he could no longer walk on his own and the Gingerlead was a huge help in getting him mobile again. We still have a long recovery period ahead of us but it has been made much easier thanks to the Gingerlead. The padded sling and special shape for male dogs makes is much more comfortable for our boy. We had tried other slings but none compare to the Gingerlead.
Our 15 year old golden retriever loves to walk and still acts like a puppy the minute I pull out a leash. Unfortunately, his back legs aren't as nimble as they used to be and he has had to cut down on walks and even be carried back to our yard. The ginger lead is a wonderful help. He can still start off on his own but when he begins to drag his back feet I can give him just the right amount of support to get him home. We have only had it for a week or two so he is still getting used to it but he is adjusting and I am happy to know that if I am walking him alone I can get him home if he falters without having to call for help because he is too heavy for me to carry. It is nice to extend his walking days as long as possible!
When I first got this I thought it was a big mistake. I have a 15 yr old lab, over 50 lbs, who got hit by a car years ago and has arthritis. I tried using this on our 4 mile walk, and got tired quickly. Then I called the ginger lead folks. THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL. They said not to lift the back up but to support it. The back legs should be on the ground. Well, it took a couple of weeks for BOTH of us to get used to it, and use it PROPERLY.
We even go up the stairs, something my dog has not done in several years. It did take almost a full bags of treats at first. But now only 6 and up we go!
I am sooooo happy with this and applaud these folks for coming up with a product that is so important for older dogs.
Our oldest has suffered from arthritis but instead of slowing down he has been jumping down the last few steps to avoid taking each step. I was afraid he would seriously injure himself and had been carrying him up and down stairs. He does fine on flat surfaces and needs no help but we have a lot of stairs and we needed something that could be used to control him going up and down in a safe way, especially when other people (who we don't want to risk carrying him up and down stairs) are watching our dogs. The ginger lead has provided us a safe way for everyone to allow our boy to enjoy his time in the yard without worrying about how he will get up and down all the stairs.
First of all, the customer service agent was very helpful and nice. My dog was having surgery in a few days so I thought it would never arrive in time unless I paid $30-40, for Next Day Air. I put my order in online around 2pm EST and received an email within 2 hours, with my tracking number. 2 days later the Gingerlead arrived to my surprise because shipping was free. The product itself is very easy to adjust to the right length so you don't hurt your back helping your dog. It works great and is much easier to put on the dog compared to the harnesses that wrap in front and back on hind leg, making it more difficult to set-up each usage. Great product.
Our 14 year old Labrador retriever recently began suffering from Vestibular Disease. Since he was unable to stand and or walk on his own my husband and I used a towel at first. Once his symptoms began to alleviate and he regained some balance I ordered a the Gingerlead. The Gingerlead has been a life saver for all of us!! We are on week 3 since this started and everyday Beau makes progress and with the help of the Gingerlead we are able to help our beloved Beau continue to make progress with ease!! Now when he sees his Gingerlead he knows it's time to go outside and he gets excited and is now able to get himself up.
Thank you Gingerlead!!
We ordered the GingerLead after trying another product recommended by our vet. The other product was ridiculous in design because you had to get a dog's hind legs through some holes in the harness. We have a 14 year old 90+ pound Chessie with rear leg weakness and we needed something that could easily help him with support going up/down stairs. The GingerLead is the perfect design for such support and is easy to get on and off our dog. When we put it on our dog, it's comfortable enough that he never fights it and seems to understand that it is helping him. We couldn't be happier with this product and highly recommend it!
We ordered the GingerLead for our 14 year old dog with arthritis in his back hips. He weighs about 60 pounds and the Medium/Large works great for him. He was having trouble keeping his balance when on uneven ground like in the yard but using the GingerLead really helps him to steady and walk around the yard. We can even take short walks again because he is starting to gain some strength back in his legs. This product was our last resort to find a way to allow our aging dog to regain mobility and allow us a little more precious time with him. The GingerLead is wonderful and easy for anyone in the family to use.
We are extremely pleased with the Gingerlead. Our 145 lbs male Leonberger, Chase, had his left rear leg removed due to osteosarcoma. The Gingerlead made it possible for us to assist Chase with movement up stairs and ramps immediately after his release from the animal hospital. He did well on level surfaces unless they were slippery and the Gingerlead solved those problems as well. Chase is recovering nicely and the Gingerlead played a huge role immediately after his surgery. We are not quite sure how he would have managed without the gentle support we could provide through the Gingerlead.
Dear Sirs:
My dog Barney has arthritis in his rear legs and found it almost impossible to get up. I was afraid that I might have had to put him down because he could not go for walks and kept falling. When I saw your advertisement, I decided to give your product a try. It was the best decision I could have made for my Barney. Now I can take him for walks and I am right beside him to assist him if he needs it. What a GREAT product! It's like he has new legs. The combination of the Vet's medication and Gingerlead gave me my best friend back again.
Thanks!!!
Pete Biamonte & Barney
