The GingerLead includes a padded sling with integrated leash and velcro handle. Q. How long has GingerLead been in business? A. GingerLead is a small, family run business that has been helping pets with limited mobility since 2008. Click here for our story. Q. How do I determine what size fits my dog? A. Click here to visit our sizing page. Q. Can my dog go potty while wearing the GingerLead? A. Yes, most dogs can go potty with the sling on. For female dogs, you can lower the sling as they squat. It may take a few tries to get the timing down, but then it's fairly simple. For male dogs, urinating may sometimes be a challenge depending on the dog's anatomy. Some breeds are able to urinate with the sling in place, while others may require sliding the sling up a bit for clearance. If it does get soiled, the slings are machine washable and dryable (except for the Mini, the neoprene can't go in the dryer). Q. Can I leave the GingerLead on my dog all the time? A. Yes and No. Stay on Straps are OPTIONAL double sided Velcro strips that cinch the GingerLead straps together allowing the support pad to stay in place when the handle is released. This can be helpful for owners that prefer to leave the GingerLead on their dog giving them independence while going potty, opening a door, etc. Stay on Straps are included with Medium, Large and Tall sizes. Can the Male sling be used on Female dogs? A. Yes, all Male slings may be used on Female dogs. Q. How do I clean the GingerLead? A. We initially worked with Ginger’s surgeon to test the GingerLead. Currently veterinarians throughout the United States and around the world use GingerLeads at their hospitals and recommend them to pet owners. Q. Will the sling bunch? A. Our slings are padded for comfort and to reduce bunching, without making the sling stiff. Q. Does the GingerLead help dogs recover from knee or hip surgery? A. Yes. The GingerLead was designed based on our experiences helping our dog, Ginger, recover from hip surgery and knee surgery, and was tested by our surgeon. Always follow your veterinarian’s instructions for using a GingerLead to assist with recovery and rehabilitation. Q. Does the GingerLead help older or arthritic dogs with their mobility? A. Yes. The GingerLead can help dogs with weak hind legs walk. It will allow you to support your dog on walks, stairs and to go potty.
